Part of the Solution

Part of the Solution

Frequently when you’re at the Publix checkout, someone will ask if you’d like to donate a small amount to a particular cause. Some of us might be skeptical: If Publix wants to support a charity or cause, why don’t they use their money for that? Why are they asking me for money? But, of course, there’s more going on: This sort of initiative encourages acts of generosity in us; especially those who do not normally give to charity. The result is a broader impact than if Publix simply made an outright donation. (By the way, our Food Pantry is a frequent beneficiary of Publix’s generosity.)

We all have our own share of challenges to deal with. It’s tempting to feel that our own issues are significant enough without having to take on the problems of the world. But God has placed each of us in a social environment; we were made to be around others and to navigate life together.

As we witness challenges in the world around us–local and global–our responsibility as God’s people in the world is to be part of the answer to those problems. How does God want you to be part of the solution today?

Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
