Setting Limits

Setting Limits

Everyone knows the truth about “fun size” candy bars: it’s much more fun to receive the full size bars for Halloween! Admittedly, the smaller ones are cheaper and easier to give away.

The real problem, however, is that it’s all too easy to eat too many fun size candy bars without even thinking about it. The smaller size makes it much harder to stop. It’s possible that we eat more candy when it’s fun size!

All aspects of life need boundaries. Even good, healthy things can be harmful without placing limits on them. God has created life to be enjoyed, but food, entertainment, relationships, and activities all need boundaries. We need guard rails in life to keep us on track.

Sometimes life’s guard rails are imposed on us, but very often, it’s up to us to set them for ourselves. We have to do the hard work of setting our own limits and sticking to them. There’s tremendous value in saying no in the moment, so that we can say yes to better things.

Blessings,
