New Year’s Opportunities

New Year’s resolutions are almost a reflex for many of us. It’s difficult not to view the start of a new year as an opportunity to tackle big changes. This will be the year that I’ll finally get in shape! This year, I’ll do whatever it takes to get promoted at work. I’m going to read a different book every week this year!

There’s everything right with making positive changes in life. But sometimes our resolutions are rooted in not-so-positive perspectives on our life. We feel pressured to become someone we aren’t, or we try to measure up to the people around us.

In place of insecurities and failures, it’s important to know that God is totally in love with us whatever we do and whoever we are. Nothing we do–or don’t do–will alter the depth of God’s love for us.

So, take advantage of opportunities to grow and be better. By all means, view the new year as an opportunity for a fresh start. But always remember that God’s love for you has been constant all along.
