A Meaningful Life
I’ve often wondered what it’s like to play a sport professionally–that is, to have a job doing something that everyone else does for leisure, like playing golf. Or maybe something like being a park ranger, where your job requires getting away from it all!
A few of us may be so fortunate, but most of us work our jobs–even if we really enjoy them–mainly to pay the bills. To be sure, it’s possible to find immense fulfillment in our work. But still, we probably wouldn’t be working those jobs if we didn’t get paid for them.
At the end of the day, what is most important is not the size of the paycheck, nor even what we accomplish in life. Each of us has a deep need for a meaningful life. Whether at a job, at home, through our hobbies or leisure time, we need life to count for something. What gives your life meaning?
Blessings,
