Good, Good Father
Father’s Day often comes to us as a mixed blessing. We celebrate dads for their jokes, grilling, and yard work. But Father’s Day can also remind us of loss, hurt, or absence. Dads are like all humans: flawed, but capable of redemption.
We often call God “Father,” just like Jesus did. There are many ways that God is like the fathers that we know. But there are many other ways that God transcends even the best qualities of our human fathers.
God loves perfectly. God guides us with divine wisdom. God’s discipline is always appropriate. God protects his children. And God provides us with exactly what we need.
This Father’s Day, honor the fathers that you know and rejoice in our perfect heavenly Father!
Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
