Putting Christmas Away

It seems that there are two kinds of people. Some of us can’t wait to put the Christmas decorations back in the box and get everything back the way it was. But others of us like to leave decorations out as long as we possibly can. If we can delay long enough, we’ll be all ready for next year!

Whenever it is that we get around to putting things away, sometimes we also pack up our Christmas spirit along with everything else. You know how a lot of people are generous, kind, and warm-hearted at Christmas time? Why does that have to go away after the holiday season?

After all, Christmas is not just about decorations; we celebrate the presence of Jesus at work in our world. As people of faith, we are not seasonal Christians. Our calling is to be bearers of the light of Jesus into a world of darkness. So go ahead: put away your Christmas lights or leave them out. But never put away the light of Christ!
