Well Pleased
One of the occupational hazards of my job as a pastor is that I am not as anonymous as I might think. From time to time I come across people who know who I am–and particularly my role as a pastor–even if we’ve never or only briefly met. As a result, I try to be conscious of my behavior, especially when I’m in a public setting.
When Jesus was baptized at the beginning of his ministry on earth, God declared that Jesus is his son, “with whom I am well pleased.”
This invites to consider an intriguing thought: what about us pleases God? Is God pleased with the way I act or talk, both in public and in private? Is God pleased with my motives and ambitions? What about my habits and lifestyle?
My guess is that God may not be pleased with all of us all the time. But God does enable us to live as God intends. What is one thing that you can do today that would give great pleasure to God?
Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
