Who Is My Neighbor?

Sanford, Florida. Ferguson, Missouri. Charleston, South Carolina. Black Lives Matter. Charlottesville, Virginia.

There are some who claim that we live in a post-racial society, that the challenges of racism are distant memories of the Civil Rights era. Some assume that racism was eradicated decades ago when segregation was outlawed.

But recent history has made it clear that racial injustice persists, even if it appears now in different forms than in previous generations.

As people of faith, it’s important to ask what our role should be both as members of society and as representatives of God’s kingdom. Sadly, Christians haven’t always been on the right side of racial issues.

During the month of February, join us for worship as we explore race and reconciliation. Using the familiar story of the Good Samaritan, we will consider the question, Who is my neighbor? These issues are challenging and the answers are not always clear. But one truth persists: God calls us to be good neighbors.
