Work of the People
Sometimes in church we use the word “liturgy” in reference to our worship. It comes from the Greek word leitourgia, which literally means “work of the people.” Outside of religious settings, it refers to public service, work that people do for the benefit of all.
When you worship with us online, I encourage you to think past simply “watching” a worship service and engage actively in worship. More than just singing along in your home, there are several ways you can actively participate in the work of the people each week.
Connect: Fill out a digital Connect Card every time you worship online. A link will be provided to fill out and send a brief online survey. It takes just a minute, but it’s an important check-in for you to connect with the church.
Share: It has never been easier to invite people to church with you. When you receive a reminder email about worship on Sunday mornings, forward that to a few friends or family members to invite them to worship with you, wherever they may be! If you normally worship with us on Facebook, get in the habit of clicking the Share button to tell your friends. Likewise, web viewers can also share their worship experience with others.
Give: Generosity is an important part of our faith and worship. We truly learn to trust God when we come to the place that we can give generously in support of God’s work. Church is about more than just what we get out of it. Visit www.cornerstonemiami.org/giving to get started, where you can even set up online giving to recur automatically.
Receive: This Sunday, we will begin receiving weekly Communion as part of our online worship service. We believe that as we gather with one another online, Christ is present among us. If you’d like to participate, any bread or cracker and juice will suffice, but you’ll need to get them ready. Of course, you’re always welcome simply to pray along with us.
Looking forward to participating in God’s work this week!
Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
