God’s Kingdom is Like…
I grew up in a church that prayed the Lord’s Prayer on a regular basis, so I learned it by osmosis, just hearing it prayed all the time. When I was very young, I remember being struck by the words that we pray at the end: “For thine is the kingdom….”
It was difficult for my young mind to comprehend what God’s kingdom is like and how that relates to life as we know it. The only kingdoms I knew about were in fairy tales. Does God’s kingdom have princes, princesses, and knights? Where are the borders of God’s kingdom?
Now that I’m older, I know that God’s kingdom is a pretty abstract concept even for adults to comprehend. That’s why Jesus taught a lot about what God’s kingdom is.
Over the next few weeks in worship, we will be looking at a few parables that Jesus taught about God’s kingdom. He used simple stories to explain specific aspects about the nature of God’s reign here on earth. Join us online each week as we explore what God’s kingdom is like!
Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
