An Ever-Present Kingdom

An Ever-Present Kingdom

When Covid lockdown first started last spring, many people noticed that it was hard to find baker’s yeast. Turns out that a lot of folks started making bread at home and baker’s yeast was one of numerous items suddenly in short supply.

However, many people don’t realize that you don’t need baker’s yeast to bake bread. Yeast spores are pretty much everywhere and yeast can be grown from almost anything, such as flour itself, juice, or dried fruit. There was never a shortage of yeast in the world!

Jesus said that God’s kingdom is like yeast. Maybe there are times in life when God seems absent. We wonder sometimes whether God is real, or if God sees or cares about our circumstances. But as Jesus teaches, God is always present everywhere, even when God’s work is not so obvious to us. God’s presence is never in short supply!
