The Prince of Peacemakers
During our worship this Sunday we will look at Isaiah’s expectation of the birth of a King who would be called the Prince of Peace. If there’s anything we need these days, it’s a generous helping of peace. Our nation has found itself deeply divided on nearly every issue–even those that should not be controversial. Global conflict continues. Many families are stressed with the burden of simply staying healthy and making ends meet. And in addition to the physical toll, covid has brought unseen mental and relational battles to many.
We desperately need peace in our lives. And this season offers an excellent opportunity to celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace.
But Jesus does not call people of faith to wait passively for peace to be dropped into our lives. In his well-known Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God” (Matthew 5:9). This means we are to be actively engaged in the task of making peace.
How will you make peace this week? How will your words bring peace to the people in your life? What actions will result in peace?
Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
