Celebrating Black History
George Floyd. Breonna Taylor. Stephon Clark. Philando Castile. Michael Brown. Eric Garner. The list goes on…
Our nation has been stirred within the last year by protests against the injustice of Black people wrongly killed by police. The division among us is plain enough to see, but the pathway forward is not as clear.
What role will Christians play in our ongoing conversations about race? Many Christians are quick to call us to unity and forgiveness, which are important values that we seek to bring about in our world. But Jesus also calls us to be people who pursue justice and what is right.
I invite you to join us for worship during Black History Month as we consider our opportunity to work for racial justice in our nation. My conviction is that America needs the church not only to tell the world that unity and justice belong together, but to show the world what that looks like in action!
Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
