God’s Green Earth

God's Green Earth

My family and I have often been blessed to serve congregations that provide a parsonage for the pastor to live in. There are not many jobs in the world that include housing as part of the deal.

It is truly an immense blessing, but this is offset by the reality that my home does not truly belong to me. When you’re living in someone else’s house, you can’t simply knock a wall out or do whatever you please with it.

As we will discover in worship this Sunday, God makes it clear that the land that we live on belongs to God. To be sure, we are to enjoy and live productively on the earth, but we are merely tenants on God’s green earth.

I invite you to join us for worship the next few weeks as we look closely at what it means to inhabit God’s Green Earth. How should people of faith live differently, knowing that we are occupying God’s land?

Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
