Hope for the Earth
Christians are by nature people of hope. Sure, sometimes we get discouraged and pessimistic. But in general, a central part of the Christian faith is hope in the future work of God. It’s not simply that Christians are generally optimistic; rather, Christianity is based on the conviction that God’s work in us and in the world will continue in the future. And that gives us hope.
This is true in various aspects of life. In the middle of health challenges, we put our hope in the work of God regardless of the outcome. Meanwhile, we follow our doctor’s advice and do all that we can to stay healthy. Likewise, we trust that God will provide for our needs, even while we make the best financial decisions for our future.
Our commitment to hope is no less true when it comes to our relationship with God’s Green Earth. As people of hope, our calling is not to be passive spectators on the environment, but to be actively engaged in the work of God in the world.
During online worship this Sunday, we will look at some specific ways to put our hope into practice in our care for God’s Green Earth. Worship with us online!
Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
