Sparking Joy

“Create in me a clean heart and put a new and right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10

January is known as the unofficial start of decluttering one’s home. Garages and closets are purged of unused items. Some treasures are kept, others trashed or donated. You might echo Marie Kondo and ask yourself, “does it spark joy?” Purging one’s house of items that are just hanging around, making a mess, can be cathartic. God desires joy for us, not just joy when we consider our belongings, but God wants us to have joy through a clear conscience and a solid, uncluttered, focused spirit. The Holy Spirit shows us how to have a clean heart and a new spirit through confession. Confession is not just good for the soul, it can spark joy! What do you need God to remove from your life, your thoughts, your past?
