God’s Ways

God's Ways

Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.
5 Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior,
    and my hope is in you all day long.
6 Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways;
     according to your love remember me, for you, Lord, are good.

8 Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
9 He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.
10 All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful
    toward those who keep the demands of his covenant.
11 For the sake of your name, Lord, forgive my iniquity, though it is great.

Psalm 25:5-11 NIV

The Holy Spirit instructs in a variety of ways including to comfort, to call, or to convict. Often the Teacher uses a life lesson that has been well learned. When you learn about God’s nature and work through scripture, and then apply that head knowledge with the heart knowledge of our own experience of the Divine, then new revelations of God can be made. When life events make us ask big questions of God, we can claim that God is both good and if we can reflect on God’s presence during that situation, we might just learn something about ourselves. Is there a time where you see our good God working something out? Are you in need of divine comfort? Is the Holy Spirit convicting you of something or calling you to a particular cause, conversation, or confrontation? God’s teaching or re-teaching may be uncomfortable, but we can trust that God’s intention for us is good, because He is good. Thanks be to God!

In Christ,
Pastor Elyse
