As of around noon on Ash Wednesday, a student led, Holy Spirit inspired “revival” has been occurring for 321 non-stop hours on Asbury University campus in Wilmore, KY. What started as a regular chapel service has exploded into a multi-site revival or movement of the Holy Spirit. By all accounts it is student generated and sustained. Since it began, many people have commented through social media on its sincerity or authenticity, from both sides of the United Methodist denomination. Most of the time, these comments have come from a place of skepticism. For those who have actually attended, there seems to be consensus that some quite real Holy Spirit presence is there. I encourage you to google Asbury Revival 2023, (since there is a rich history of revival at Asbury) and to look it up on Facebook or other social media sites. To me, it is greatly encouraging that young people are being transformed in tangible ways in and through the Holy Spirit. Let us pray to God that more growth, conviction, and call to action comes out of this great movement that some are calling the start of another Great Awakening!
