God’s Law of Love
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
Galatians 5:1
Jesus desires for us and is the way for us to not live life full of heavy burdens. The “yoke” that Jesus gives us is “easy” and not another list of behaviors that must be met or tasks to be completed or personality traits that must be put on. When Jesus gives us freedom it is not so that we can be free so that we can do anything we want knowing that the Lord will forgive. Out of gratitude for the freedom that Christ gives us, and indeed knowing that God will forgive, we should be obedient to God’s law of love and be assured that God’s grace is sufficient. Sin weighs us down and Christ wants us to live a free life in and through him.
