Beautiful Feet
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:14-15, NIV)
The summer between my twelfth to thirteenth birthdays, I went to a Methodist conference sponsored in the Appalachian mountains. I remember thinking this may be the summer I can have fun with my girlfriends, get a little job to earn some money, and get a tan! I wanted to lay by the pool like a real-life Barbie. This summer camp was more sweaty-hiking with sunburned sandal lines than the South Beach scene I wish it had been. We sang around campfires, slept under the stars, made crafts, rode horses, and for many of us, we heard about a God who loved us and Jesus who saves us for the first time. Even though I was raised in the church, those few weeks at camp cemented a faith in me like never before. This week several of our students are attending Warren Willis Camp! Pray for the leaders and clergy, as they are charged with bringing good news of freedom and a meaningful life through Jesus. Also, pray for campers that their camp experience will be transformative as they hear the good news of Jesus!
In Christ,
