Friends are a gift from God!

Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart,
    and the pleasantness of a friend
    springs from their heartfelt advice. Proverbs 27:9

I have two fall scented candles; one that is orange and smoky, another that smells like pumpkin pie. In my car, I have an air freshener that is scented like a cupcake. I like pleasant smells, sometimes clean and fresh and other times ones that evoke the smells of a holiday’s past. I think the author of this scripture also knew the pleasure of their senses being filled and time spent with friends. Soon we will be gathering more often for holidays and since it is slightly less humid now, we will get together “just because” Be the sort of friend that your friend asks you for advice. When you spend time together, notice what senses come to life. Does your friendship smell like seafood and chlorine? Look like bright sunshine? Is it hot tea, Ben Gay, and cookies? Take time to thank God and to truly experience God’s joy and pleasantness with and through your friends- the people of God. Friends are a gift from God!
