Lent & Love!

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Lent & Love!
This year, Valentine’s Day and Lent are both on February 14^th and we celebrate Black History Month in the month of February. While some may understand that these holidays stand in stark contrast with each other, I see them as a wonderful blend of three celebratory concepts. The imposition of ashes is literal reminder on our foreheads that life is a gift, and this gift of life is an outpouring of God’s love for us. We also proclaim that all people are created in the image of God. God’s creativity is expressed in the wondrous diversity of people. This creativity is also an outpouring of love. God has promised good to you and to me. God is love! So, as we celebrate romantic love and brotherly love this Valentine’s Day, Lent, and Black History this month, remember that all love is a blessing from God.
