New Life
My family has recycled for as long as I can remember. I grew up in New York State, which has imposed a 5-cent redeemable deposit on certain bottles and cans for many years. Long before recycling was commonplace, we would diligently save bottles and cans and redeem them for cash!
The idea of re-using materials to make new items is significant. This is a good image for us to relate to the work of resurrection in us. After Jesus rose from the grave, it is clear that he was the same person, but also transformed by the resurrection.
And this is exactly what we need God to do in us. We are who we are–our personality, quirks, and foibles–but some parts of our lives are in need of transformation.
This Sunday we will talk about how God re-works us into something new. We remain who we are, but we also invite God to shape us into God’s own image. Join us for worship and open your life to a new work of creation!
Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
