Expecting the Unexpected

Expecting the Unexpected

I recently heard Alex Trebek, the host of Jeopardy, make an off-hand comment that has stuck with me. He mentioned that he majored in philosophy in college, a degree that has served him well. But–of course–he never anticipated a long-running career as a TV quiz show host.

Life is rarely a straight line from Point A to Point B. As we have all discovered, much of life consists of frequent twists and turns, along with occasional bumps in the road. We make plans, we anticipate the future, but life never goes exactly as planned.

This is why it’s important for us to learn to see God at work in all of life. Disappointments and changed plans are not signs that God has failed us. God is present not only in Plan A, but in Plan B, Plan C, and all the rest of life.

Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
