Blessed to Give

Blessed to Give

You’ve heard the saying: “It’s more blessed to give than to receive.” Where’s the blessing in giving? Given the choice, wouldn’t we rather be on the receiving end every time?

We certainly know that giving can be a blessing. But do we really believe that being the giver is better than being the getter?

Part of our problem is that we have come to equate blessings with material things. To be sure, many of our material goods can bring us quite a lot of happiness. Or when someone is very wealthy, we might remark that they are “very blessed.” But that idea is worth our reconsideration.

Wouldn’t we agree that the greatest blessings in life cannot be bought with money? And isn’t it true that money can often create more problems than it solves? God blesses us in many different ways, many of which don’t include money.

There are, indeed, many blessings to be found in giving to others. Perhaps we simply need to give more to find them!

Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
