People and Places

People and Places

I have to confess: when I was younger, I occupied myself through numerous church services by looking at the maps in the back of the Bible. Let’s face it: sometimes the maps are more interesting than the sermon!

Although they can orient us to locations of the ancient world, Bible maps also point us to a deeper truth: God has always been concerned with real people in real places.

We sometimes view our faith as abstract and theoretical: how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, anyway? But God is always interested in the details of real life, of your life.

God cares about that argument you had this morning. God sees your sacrificial acts, even if no one else notices. God is thrilled when you apply your very best to the things you do in life.

Everything you experience in life is real, and God’s interest in it is every bit as real, too.

Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
