I Was a Stranger, and You Welcomed Me

I Was a Stranger, and You Welcomed Me

In recent years immigration has become one of the most divisive issues facing our nation. On some days, more than 3,500 undocumented immigrants cross into our border, the highest rate in 13 years.

As people of faith, we are also deeply divided about what to do. On one hand, some of us express concerns about threats to our culture, economy, and national security. But on the other hand, God’s perspective on the treatment of immigrants is both clear and consistent. Repeatedly the Bible calls us to show love to foreigners among us, along with orphans, widows, and the poor.

Regardless of their legal status, immigrants are among some of the most vulnerable members of our communities. It is for this reason that the people of God bear some responsibility for their welfare.

All the same, this remains a challenging subject for a lot of us. Join us over the next several weeks in worship as we explore the topic together. How does God want us to respond to immigrants in our community and our nation?

Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
