Top Priority

Those of us living in South Florida are grateful to be spared the devastation of Hurricane Dorian, but we empathize with those who were in its path. We should continue to pray for the people of the Bahamas and seek out ways to help.

For many of us, hurricane preparations involve taking measures to protect the items in our home that are most valuable to us. We might go through our possessions to decide what things truly need to be saved, and what can be more easily replaced. Preparation like this helps us to take stock of our stuff as we ask ourselves, What’s most important to me?

Chances are, the most precious things in your home are not necessarily the most expensive. You might do very little to protect the TV and other electronics from storm damage. But other items are priceless: photo albums, important documents, family heirlooms.

Take a few moments today to reflect on your top priorities: What is most valuable to you? Family members, friends, or your faith might be somewhere on the top of your list. But does the rest of your life reflect those priorities–the way you spend your time, your money, your attention?

Blessings,

Pastor Paul Cook
