The Best of All

The Best of All

Imagine the scene at the final moments of John Wesley’s life. He had spent decades as a primary influencer of the spread of Methodism. But in 1791, at age 87, Wesley neared the end of his life. Friends gathered around as he took his final breaths.

But before the very end, John Wesley reportedly raised his arms and said, “The best of all is, God is with us.”

These are important and encouraging words. Very many people fear death more than anything else. But Wesley was able to face that moment with confidence in the presence of God.

We face a number of fears these days, mostly relating to coronavirus. But Wesley’s last words are a key reminder for us that no matter what happens in life, God is with us!

Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
