Lukewarm Faith

Lukewarm Faith

Jesus once described people as “lukewarm” in their faith–neither hot nor cold. Addressing the residents of the ancient city of Laodicea, Jesus wrote, “Because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I’m about to spit you out of my mouth” (Revelation 3:16). This is a powerful statement, because it reveals an uncomfortable truth about Christianity: half-way faith is no faith at all.

If we’re honest, we’ll admit that half-way faith is often the reality for us. We squeeze God in between our other commitments. We have an on-again, off-again relationship with Christ. We get serious about our faith especially when life gets serious.

In reality, there’s no such thing as a lukewarm Christian. There are either those who follow Christ, or those who don’t. Which one are you? Join us for worship online this week, and we’ll look more closely at the lukewarm life!
