Pay It Forward

Pay It Forward

Recently, I heard someone describe how they ordered food at a drive-thru, but when they pulled around, the car in front of them had already paid their bill! Of course, there was no way to thank or repay that person, so they responded by paying for the order of the people behind them.

Unfortunately, this person never learned how long that had been going before them, nor how long the chain continued. At the very least, a simple act of kindness and generosity sparked another one.

We don’t often think of generosity in terms of reciprocal benefits and we don’t typically expect anything in return for our giving. But consider that in addition to meeting specific needs, your acts of generosity have the potential to inspire others to be generous. The impact is potentially incalculable. When we are generous, kindness is compounded!
