God Intended It for Good
Over the last few weeks in our weekly worship we have been looking at the multicolor life of Joseph in the Old Testament. Through all the twists and turns, from being sold into slavery by his brothers to rising in authority over Egypt, we have noticed that God has been with Joseph. His ability to interpret dreams sometimes gets him into trouble, and sometimes gets him out of trouble, but Joseph describes it as God at work.
So when Joseph finally has the opportunity to reconcile with his brothers, he sees God’s hand through the whole experience. He makes such a profound statement to his brothers:
You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives (Genesis 50:20).
These words challenge us to take a look at our own present circumstances. Life can be unpleasant, including wounds that others inflict on us. How do you see God doing good through your circumstances right now?
Blessings,
Pastor Paul Cook
