Rejoice in God

And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior…”  “…for the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name.”
Luke 1:46-47, 49 

In the last ten days or so before Christmas, let us remember Mary the Mother of Jesus. She was given this outlandish opportunity to conceive and bear a son and then be mother to God in flesh. At this news, she knew, as a devout Jewish young woman, that she was fulfilling scripture. While she must have had many emotions about her future and the enormity of her saying yes to God. The second part of this scripture reveals that her spirit rejoices. Whatever God’s future for you holds, my prayer for all of us is that we, like Mary, will rejoice in God, the Savior of us all.
